سال 1933 است. سالی که نقطه عطفی در تاریخ دنیاست. مکان شهر "Berlin" است. " William E. Dodd" به عنوان اولین سفیر آمریکا در آلمان انتخاب می شود.

"Dodd" استاد دانشگاه خوش برخوردی از شهر "شیکاگو" است که به همراه همسر، پسر و دختر پر زرق و برقش "Martha" وارد پایتخت آلمان می شود. در همان ابتدا "مارتا" با احترام و تشریفات توسط مردان خوش چهره "رایش سوم" همراهی می شود. دختر خانواده که شیفته آلمان جدید شده، یکی پس از دیگری وارد رابطه با مردان "هیتلر"، از جمله فرمانده کل ارتش "گشتاپو"، " Rudolf Diels" می شود. با بالا گرفتن خطر کشتار یهودیان پدر خانواده به کشورش تلگراف می زند و خواستار بازگشت به وطنش می گردد.
